Scribe and Liaison Officer, Level 2
Our OnLINE Academy Level 2 training can be taken as an integrated part of the Incident Command series, or the courses may be taken as stand-alone units. Both courses are taught remotely by live instructors using interactive media, realistic incident simulations, group exercises, performance evaluation and feedback from peers and instructors. We train people all over the world, working with a variety of time zones and technology platforms.
Scribe: Incident Documentation Officer, Level 2
The role of Scribe is part of the Command Staff along with the Liaison Officer and Incident Commander. The position is mission critical as it allows the Incident Commander to focus on leading the resolution effort, while key events and incident timeline are created and maintained. Operationally mature response teams assign the Scribe as a dedicated function on high priority incidents. Key tasks of the Scribe include establishing the incident timeline, capturing key events such as CAN reports and time contracts between the Incident Commander and SME’s, and details of key discussions relative to resolution. The Scribe also is a key companion to the Liaison Officer in terms of capturing information to be used in briefings to executives, customers and other entities connected to the incident.
Liaison Officer: Incident Communications, Level 2
The role of LNO is part of the Command Staff along with the Scribe and Incident Commander. The position is mission critical as it allows the Incident Commander to focus on leading the resolution effort, while briefings and other information is exchanged outside the incident and/or off the main technical communications channel. Examples of LNO duties include briefings to executives off the main technical problem solving bridge and/or briefings and information gathering for customers or other business units. Operationally mature response teams assign the LNO as a dedicated function on high priority incidents. The LNO, Scribe, and Incident Commander work closely to capture and distribute key information to executives, customers and other entities connected to the incident.
