Incident Commander, Command Staff and Key Responder
Level 1 Certification

This course provides foundation skills, knowledge and abilities for individuals who will work in the critical leadership functions of incident command, incident communications and technology problem-solving during Information Technology (IT) incidents. The goal is to prepare individuals to successfully lead critical functions during incidents in the roles of Incident Commander, Liaison Officer (LNO) and Scribe.

Course content includes:

History and adaptation of Incident Management System (IMS) best practices from public safety into IT
Roles, responsibilities and skills for the Incident Commander, Liaison Officer and Scribe (the Command Staff)
Techniques for managing critical tasks and progressing toward incident resolution
Communications briefings using proven, structured reporting techniques
Human behaviors and situations commonly encountered during incidents
The Incident Lifecycle template and After-Action Reviews (AARs)
